SUMMERTIME BLUES CONCERTS
The Summertime Blues concert with Slow Ya Roll on June 18th went well, with an increase in attendance (approx 250). We brought in $25 for a new membership, $25 in merch sales, $46.61 in donation jar, and $45 for guitar raffle. Next S.B. concert is July 16 with Knock Kneed Sally.
SPIRIT OF KANSAS BLUES FESTIVAL
Fund Raising/Sponsorships: Karen handed out a spreadsheet showing the 2014 SOKBF donations and SOKBF budget, showing we’ve collected $10,338. for 2014 SOKBF, with $200 pledged, plus several “in kind” donations.
Band/Staging: Suki has band and stage diagram under control. Gerry had contract for staging, and Karen gave a $600 deposit to stage crew. Much discussion about fencing around the front and sides of stage area – Suki will work on this. Board agreed we should not spend money on fencing.
Security: Gib printed badges and parking passes, Suki handed out lanyards. Gate security will start around 8am, and end when last band arrives (around 6pm). Board members will park the perimeter of the parking lot, to keep others out. Bill has scheduled an ambulance on site for most of day.
Food and Beverage: Suki would like food signs to mention that sales will benefit TBS and the festival. We will sell a combo of sandwich (hot dog, brat or burger)/chips/bottled water for $5, chips separate for $1, and water separate for $1. All Board members are encouraged to bring food and sodas for lodge. Suki will have beers and frozen drinks for lodge.
Promotions & Media: Rod and Stacy did a great job of getting our festival promoted, and Stacy has done a great job of thanking our sponsors on Facebook. Gib and others have been putting up posters and handing out flyers. Karen will send another membership email this week to promote festival, and post again on Facebook.
Volunteers: Chardy had a spreadsheet showing volunteers times. Volunteers will wear an armband provided by Suki, and band will be marked when volunteer has received food from food tent. Randy Roach volunteered to photograph the festival – he will not take photographs inside Reynolds Lodge.
Merchandize/Event income: TBS shirts and festival shirts are in. Several of both were sold last week at Uncle Bo’s. No free shirts will be given to anyone. We also have fans, hats and old festival shirts. Posters are free.
Miscellaneous: Karen suggested we continually update the “to-do” list she distributed, and keep it from year to year. New rope lights will need to be purchased for the merch tents. All Board members should bring flashlights.
