OLD BUSINESS
SOK Blues Festival
Karen had handout of 2013 budget and 2013 income. She said she started on Visit Topeka grant application, but wasn’t sure about some of the information required. Paul offered to work with Visit Topeka and complete the application. Karen also mentioned the money for the ad for the 2014 Festival Guide had not been submitted and asked if the Board wanted a color or B&W ad, because of cost. Deadline is March 23rd for artwork. Board agreed on 1/2 page B&W ad. Karen mailed letters to all previous Blues Festival donors and asked if they would meet or exceed their prior donation – two sponsors have responded so far. Bill mentioned he has a contact at Mars Candy warehouse in Topeka, and asked Karen to go to their website and see if she could make donation request there. Suki is keeping band costs down from last year, and also suggested we use one stage for all acts. We could use some extra money for better shading on one stage. After some discussion, Gerry made motion that one stage be used for all acts at the 2014 SOK Blues Festival, Bill 2nd, approved unanimously. Suki also mentioned we might need another source for stage fencing. All Board members are encouraged to seek donations and sponsors for Blues Festival. Committee and chairs will be selected at the next meeting.
