 MEETING AGENDA

CALL TO ORDER at 6:40pm

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:  Suki Willison, Chardy Hern, Gib Ramirez, Rod Peterson, Paul Schwartz and Karen Osborn

BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT: Marni Schleuning, Bill Beasley, Brian Gabel, Jeff Martin and Gerry Schmanke

APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING:  Gib moved that the minutes of December 8th be approved, Rod second; approved.

SECRETARY/TREASURER’S REPORT:  Karen had handout of expenses and income for past month.  Income: memberships; Expenses: postage stamps, harmonicas and Secretary of State Annual Report filing fee.  Bank balance is $6,721.12 with an additional $50 in petty cash.  Topeka Blues Society membership is at 75 listings, and those unpaid have been removed from the email address book.  Karen has filed the Not For Profit Corporation Annual Report with the Secretary of State’s office, and e-filed Form 990-N with the IRS.  Gib moved that Secretary/Treasurer’s report be approved, Paul second; approved.

 

OLD BUSINESS

IBC Kick-Off Parties, Jan. 16 & 17

Showtime Friday will start at 7:30pm with Pat Nichols. Saturday showtime is 8pm.  We will sell TBS merchandise and CD’s.  Karen will work Friday night, Luan Betts offered to work Saturday night.  Karen asked if Board would give approval for travel cash amount for artists’ IBC travel.  Gib moved that $750 be given to band, and $500 to solo performer, Chardy second; approved.  Karen will bring travel cash Friday evening for the artists.  Rod will get bookmarks printed at Copy Center for Memphis distribution.

Blues in Schools

Blues in Schools has begun at Ross Elementary, and will last six weeks.  TBS purchased 100 harmonicas – Suki said 38 have been distributed to the students this semester.  Justin Shelton has been putting updates on his Facebook page.

TBS Membership Brochure

Nothing new.

SOKBF

Karen is working on Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation application, and will submit before January 31 deadline.  She will also send letters to previous donors, asking for 2015 donations.

Suki has the lineup almost done for festival.

American Royal BBQ Competition

Nothing new.

 

NEW BUSINESS

Topeka Gives 2015

Suki & Paul will attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 13th on Topeka Gives 2015, and will report at next board meeting.

TBS buttons

Gib had Topeka Blues Society buttons made at no cost to us.  We will sell at $2.00 each.
