BOARD MEETING MINUTES
MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER AT 6:40pm.
BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Suki Willison, Brad Hern, Stacy Jeffress, Tony Gaines and Karen Osborn
BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT: Luan Betts, Brian Gabel, Rod Peterson, Gerry Schmanke, Gib Ramirez and Bill Beasley
APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS BOARD MEETING: Stacy made motion that minutes of Dec. 17th, 2012 meeting be approved, Tony second; approved.
SECRETARY/TREASURER’S REPORT: Karen reported we had two new memberships: one individual and one Blues Fan. She also reported she has filed the Sec’y of State Annual Report, paying the $40 annual fee. And she filed the annual 990-N Efiling with the IRS. She also renewed the USPS PO Box, paying the annual fee.
Brad made motion that Sec’y/Treasurer’s Report be approved, Suki second; approved.
OLD BUSINESS
IBC Kickoff Party & Silent Auction, Jan. 26th Suki reported news release has been sent to local media, and she will try to get some local morning shows for interviews. JVB opted to not practice their set at Uncle Bo’s this week. Cindy Olsen sent an email with a list of items she & John are donating for the Silent Auction. Suki also has some items. Karen is promoting Kickoff with email to TBS membership and Fb posts. Will ask Ellen to do same on website. Karen will not be present to work Auction, but will have TBS membership forms available, as well as Travel Cash for bands. Suki will have bid sheets. She asked Karen to purchase some poster frames.
Karen asked if there was a Gibson guitar drawing again this year . . . there is not.
Suki reported Rod designed and purchased 800 IBC promotional bookmarks for $63. TBS will be well represented at the IBC – Stacy is a judge, and Suki was selected as a Finalist Judge! We are very proud of them both and wish them well. Also, TBS will be making a $1000 payment at the Raise the Roof Rally on Thursday afternoon at IBC.
Live Blues Calendar on website
Stacy is working on helping with website. There was some discussion about the website calendar – only one event per day can be entered. It was suggested a different type calendar be used on our website to promote Blues and music in local area.
Spirit of Kansas Blues Festival donation application forms
Karen asked if the application forms had been completed and turned into Prairie Band and Westar Energy. Suki advised Rod is working on Prairie Band app and will turn it in by mid-February. She will begin working on the Westar app.
Suki announced lineup for SOKBF 2013 as follows: Homemade Jamz Blues Band; John Nemeth; The Blues Caravan (Bart Walker, JoAnne Shaw Taylor and Jimmy Bowskill); and Zac Harmon!
NEW BUSINESS
Suki is working with John Catt to have a Blue Star benefit in March or April. The Board agreed April would be a better month.
