TBS Blues Challenge Results

The TBS Blues Challenge is over, and all the musicians were on their A-game!  The judges really had some tough decisions to make.   There is no doubt that every artist on stage today made some new fans.

Some quick thank you’s for helping make this a great day!

First, Suki Willison and Uncle Bo’s – Topeka has a jewel in the basement of the Ramada, and TBS is so very lucky to have this venue for our Challenge!  And with it we get the best sound guy for miles around – Jim Beilman!   And, of course, the wait staff at Bo’s – you all rock!

Second, to our judges – a huge thanks to Gina Hughes, Mark Toelkes and Greg Spreers!!  Your background, experience, and expertise is beyond compare, and we are so very grateful to have you share your knowledge and critiques with our musicians!

And what a great audience – thank you all for coming out to cheer on these bands!!

The Topeka Blues Society board (and their spouses, and families!) works so hard all year long, and today wasn’t any different.  Thank you for always being so much fun, while you work so hard!!  Best group you’ll find anywhere!

And lastly, thank you to the musicians entertaining us so well during this challenge:  Jaisson Taylor Group; MAHAN; Kurt Allen; Connie Hawkins & The BluesWreckers, and Dust Devil Choir.  Uncle Bo’s was hopping on this rainy Sunday afternoon!!

Here are the results:

Second place/runner up:  Connie Hawkins & The Blues Wreckers, from Overland Park, KS

2018 TBS Blues Challenge winner:  Dust Devil Choir, from Olathe, KS
